You’ve had to have your rig towed to an RV collision repair shop, now what?
Having auto insurance is a legal requirement in the majority of states. However, that does not stop it from being a little difficult to understand sometimes. It is important to make sure you have a decent understanding of your policy (what is covered, etc.) before you end up in an accident, or on your way to the RV collision repair shop.
Here is a quick guide to keep you informed on your auto or RV insurance policy:
Collision Coverage
This type of coverage kicks in when your auto is damaged in a collision with another car, or object. This coverage will take care of the cost of repairs from an RV collision repair shop (up to the limit of your policy.)
Comprehensive Coverage
This coverage kicks in when your vehicle is damaged by something other than a collision with another object/auto. This will make sure you are covered for RV collision repair shop repair costs caused by vandalism, theft, and even flood or storm damage.
Liability Coverage
This is generally accepted as the minimum for required insurance. This coverage takes care of accidental damages done to the other person or property in an accident or crash. This does not cover your injury, passengers, or RV collision repair shop repairs. It does cover the other person’s medical expenses, lost wages, and damages.
Personal Injury Protection
In some states and conditions, personal injury protection is required by law. This type of insurance covers all of your medical costs if you suffer an injury in an accident.
Other Kinds of Insurance Coverage
There are a lot of different types of insurance coverages available for you, often being able to be combined and personalized. Your insurance provider will be able to help you create the best coverage for your situation.
